What is Chiropratic?

Chiropractors believe your spine is essential to your overall health and well-being. A properly functioning spine relieves pressure on muscles, joints and nerves, which can affect the entire body. Stress is a general term for everything that affects the body. Stress can be broken down into 3 parts:
CHEMICAL STRESS junk food, medications (prescription and over-the-counter), as well as excessive caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.
EMOTIONAL STRESS worrying about work, home life, or finances.
PHYSICAL STRESS yard work, car accidents, sports injuries, and poor posture.
Chiropractors adjust the spine which in turn helps remove the stress which affects the body to work at full capacity.

Why Should I See A Chiropractor?

Patients see chiropractors for many reasons, including

  • Back, hip and leg pain or numbness
  • Neck, shoulder and arm pain or numbness
  • Chronic headaches
  • Knee or ankle pain or injury
  • Sports, dance and work injuries
  • Carpal Tunnel symptoms
  • Pain between shoulder blades and rib pain
  • Difficulty sitting, bending and lifting
  • Problems sleeping due to neck or back pain
  • Recurring joint pain, stiffness or swelling
  • Auto accident injury

What is Subluxation?

A Subluxation is the term Doctors of Chiropractic use to describe the altered position of the vertebra and subsequent functional loss, which determines the location for the spinal manipulation. Because none of us live a stress free life. We all have an assortment of different stresses in our lives that negatively impact our health. Once a subluxation occurs, the only way to correct the injury is through chiropractic manipulation which corrects the misalignment of the spine freeing your body from structural distortions and nervous system stress. In essence, chiropractic treatment allows your body to heal itself. Our bodies are amazing self-healing machines and Chiropractors put the body in an environment to heal itself. Therefore, Health comes from the inside out!

There’s nothing mysterious about chiropractic care. It’s a natural method of health care that focuses on correcting the cause of physical problems, rather than just treating the symptoms.
All the cells, tissues, and organs of your body are designed to resist disease and ill health. They are all controlled by the nervous system, and your spine is the lifeline of this system. When there is interference in your lifeline, you experience ill health and discomfort. Chiropractic care is medical treatment for the connection between your spinal structure and your overall health.

What is Wellness Care?

Wellness care trusts that the body would know what to do if nothing were interfering with it. Standard medical care, on the other hand, seeks to treat a symptom by adding something from the outside – a medication, a surgery or procedure. The main difference between wellness care and standard medical care is that wellness care seeks to turn on the natural healing ability. Wellness care does not add something to the system, instead it removes anything that might interfere with normal function.
If a patient has high blood pressure, a standard medical approach would be to choose a drug that lowers blood pressure, and ask the patient to take the drug. This may serve to lower the blood pressure, but ignores the underlying cause that is making the blood pressure high, and runs the risk of side effects complicating the person’s recovery. Whether it’s a nutritional issue, faulty control by the nerve system or a manifestation of stress, the medication could decrease the blood pressure, leaving the problem causing the symptom of high blood pressure unaddressed.
